Out-of-State Events Intercontinental Dance Festival, June 28-July 2 The University of Wisconsin Madison Dance Program will host its second annual Intercontinental Festival, Concurrent Movements: Sharing, Collaborating, Creating. The Festival is co-sponsored by the World Dance Alliance and promotes cultural and artistic interchange through instruction, presentation and performance. There will be an emphasis of on-site collaboration. World Congress on Dance Research, July 2-6 The 22nd World Congress on Dance Research will be held in Athens, Greece, July 2-6. In 2006, 700 dance specialists from 64 countries took part in this conference. Annual Goose Route Dance Festival, July 10-20 The 8th Annual Goose Route Dance Festival will be held in Shepherdstown, WVA, July 10-20. Dancing for the Camera: International Festival, July 11-13 The American Dance Festival presents the 13th annual Dancing for the Camera: International Festival of Film and Video Dance. World Dance Alliance Global Summit, July 13-18 The World Dance Alliance Global Summit Dance Dialogues: Conversations across Cultures, Artforms & Practices will be held in Brisbane, Australia, July 13-18, 2008. The WDA serves as a primary voice for dance throughout the world by encouraging the exchange of ideas and the awareness of dance in all its forms. The key issues to be explored at this conference include: mind/body connections, sustainability, transcultural conversations and re-thinking the way dance/performances are made. White Mountain Summer Dance Festival, July 13-August 2 The White Mountain Summer Dance Festival includes three weeks of intensive dance training on the Sarah Lawrence College Campus. The Festival is now celebrating its 29th year. WMSDF is an exploration of movement and creativity for students, educators and anyone looking to enrich and deepen their understanding of the moving body and the creative process.
