Application Deadline, July 1
Colorado Council on the Arts releases request for proposals for the 2009 Masterpieces of Colorado Tour. This grant will fund a dance tour that celebrates Colorado’s unique cultural heritage. The 2009 Masterpieces of Colorado request seeks applicants who can develop and implement a statewide dance tour that will acquaint Coloradans with the best of their cultural and artistic legacy. The proposed activity must be a tour of dance performances that are artistically, historically and culturally significant and in some way highlight and celebrate the extraordinary and rich evolution of dance and choreography as it relates to Colorado. Proposed programs may focus solely on a particular choreographer, style, tradition or subject relevant to our state or region. Commissions for new works are not eligible. The tour must be accompanied by related educational and interpretive components. CCA will award one grant for $50,000 to $55,000. The grant requires a one-to-one match, 50% of which must be in cash. Beginning August, 2008
The Aspen Dance Connection (ADC) announces that Professional Colorado Choreographers may now request the application form and information in order to audition their completed choreography by August 2008 in preparation for a the 31st Annual Juried Showcase. The Showcase will be performed January 2009 in Grand Junction, and March 2009 in Aspen. Please email aspendance@sopris.net or call 970-927-0641 for details. Ascential Dance Theatre (ADT2) is a performing company for dancers age 12 and older. The Company is considered the apprentice corps to the professional company Ascential Dance Theatre Colorado. This group takes two monthly company classes together and rehearses to perform various styles of dance for the public. Classes are the 2nd & 4th Sunday of every month at Hannah's Kahn's Open Studio, Denver, 3:15-4:45 pm. Rehearsals are from 5:00-6:45 pm. and are led by resident and guest artists. Interested applicants must have a minimum of 3 years dance training in 2 or more disciplines and take 3 or more dance classes per week at any facility or organization they choose. This is a scholarship opportunity, yet a $10 monthly fee is required to fund space rental and liability insurance. The Volunteer Connection is looking for entertainers to perform for residents two evenings a month. Platte Forum offers Creative Artist Residencies. The Platte Forum, located in downtown Denver, connects artists, including dance artists, with youth through creative arts residencies. Do you want your company to perform in New York City? The ground floor studio of Joyce SoHo doubles as a 74-seat theater and is available for performances from September through July for independent choreographers and non-profit dance companies. Rental packages are highly subsidized and include use of the lighting, sound system and assistance from production, front-of-house and administrative staff. The best part? Your company keeps all box office proceeds! Applications are usually available in December and we allow companies to propose standard and flexible space configurations. Visiting Researcher Fellowships. The Dora Stratou Dance Theatre, Athens invites scholars to apply for a research fellowship. The Theatre has a large library, extensive archives, numerous publications and funded research programs.

The Puffin Foundation seeks to open the doors of artistic expression by providing grants to artists who are excluded from mainstream opportunities. Dance is included among the fields that the Foundation is interested in supporting. Contact: www.puffinfoundaton.org/.

Shubert Foundation is dedicated to sustaining and advancing the live performing arts in the US. Principle emphasis is on theatre with a secondary focus on dance. The Foundation provides general operating support to nonprofit, professional resident theatre & dance companies, as well as selected arts-related organizations.
