The M*SHAKA*FUSION DANCE INTENSIVE, a fusion of African, Hip Hop, and Modern Jazz., focuses on energy flow of movement through technique. All levels are welcome. The intensive is for those ages 13 and up. It will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm, July 8-24 at the Hannah Kahn Open Studio,75 South Cherokee Street, Denver. The cost is $100 for all six classes by July 3, or $115.00 afterwards and on site.

DNCE 508, Integrating Movement & Learning: Connecting with the Educational Process will be offered July 14, 16 & 18 with a full day of classes on the first two days and a half day of classes on the last day of the workshop. Workshop emphasis is on how to teach academic concepts through movement and dance. Participants learn how to create & tailor movement experiences appropriate for communicating ideas & concepts to students. A Multiple Intelligences approach to teaching is demonstrated throughout the class, along with Active Learning teaching strategies. Connections between movement-based teaching techniques and popular educational theories are also provided. Workshop is worth 1 hour university graduate credit through the University of Northern Colorado. The workshop is taught at UNC’s Denver Center at Lowry. The instructor is Sandra Minton, Ph. Dance Medicine Workshop Series can include custom tailored lecture topics on injury prevention & nutrition for dancers. The interactive workshop topics focus on: strengthening & improving foot/ankle; working on use of the knee & hip (enhancing turn-out); stretching to increase flexibility & range of motion with dance movement & working with Pilates for dancers.
